All of our trail rides start with a complimentary 15 minute lesson in the arena. Prior to riding, all participants are required to fill in and sign a waiver. Anyone under the age of 19 will need to have the waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. Trail rides are appropriate for those 12 and over. 9 and 10 year old’s currently enrolled in riding lessons and/or can demonstrate good control of their horse in the arena are accepted on rides as well. Lead line pony rides are available for younger children. 15 minutes $25. Long pants and closed toed shoes are required to ride. Helmets are mandatory and will be provided. Try to arrive 15 minutes before the ride to get ready. We use mostly Icelandic saddles but also use dressage and some all purpose. We ensure all stirrups are adjusted to the correct length for riders safety and saddles are sized to fit both horse and rider for comfort and safety, so this just takes a few more minutes. Washrooms and WIFI available onsite. While the Icelandic horse can carry full grown adults easily due to their unique bone density our weight limit for trail riding is restricted to 200 lbs. due to the terrain. We do have a couple of larger horses available if the rider is intermediate or advanced, they are not suitable for beginners. The understanding of horse equipment and tacking up. The fundamentals of Icelandic horsemanship The fundamentals of riding, correct mounting and dismounting techniques, proper position and accurate aids for the utmost control. The essential patterns and exercises for both horse and rider. The principles of jumping, progressing from a basic position over a single jump to mastering the art of riding a course.
